Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a DOC wine whose production is permitted in the four Abruzzo provinces (Chieti, L’Aquila, Pescara and Teramo). In 2007, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was classified to be the first Italian wine (of the DOC category) for production, to note, DOC was created in 1968. The Montepulciano grape has been present in Abruzzo since time immemorial, but only from the seventeenth century has it begun to be known by its current name. Over the centuries the appreciation that the Carthaginian leader Hannibal had, who kept Rome in check for many years, remains, reinvigorating men and horses with the wine produced in the Abruzzo area.

Rieccolo Montepulciano thanks to the maceration on the skins for approximately 15 days and refinement of about 4 months within steel tanks, brings a fresh feeling in the mouth of the taster, with its young, slightly tannic taste and interesting body.

·Color: Intense ruby red with slight violet hues, tendency to garnet with aging;

·Aroma: Aromas of red fruits, spices, intense, ethereal;

·Flavor: Full, dry, harmonious, rightly tannic.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is ideal with pasta and red meat, excellent with grilled meat, but also with cheeses of various ages. It is a classic, round, and fragrant red wine, with a very high polyphenolic content and now it’s time to taste it!
